What are Social Issues?
For general connects on what is considered a social issue, is a social problem. There are many social issues such as, education, child poverty, abortion, capital punishment / death penalty, child abuse, child labor, climate change, domestic violence, environmental racism, gay rights and woman right. The list goes on and on when it comes to these important issues that are trending across the world. However, the main focus will be on social issues that are in Madrid, such as ,education and child poverty.

UNemployment and poverty
In the past, Spain underwent an economic crisis that put them in a horrible position. The financial crisis happened in 2014 due to Spain’s GDP (Gross domestic product) increasing by 0.6% and unemployment dropping 23.7%. Despite Spain showing a recent growth in economy, they are still on the list of the world highest jobless lost rate.
Child poverty is another major issue in Spain. Recent reports show that child poverty has increased between the years of 2008 and 2012. IPS, Inter Press Service, News Agency released an article called, “ Child Poverty in Spain Seen Through the Eyes of Encarni," that discussed a girl name Encarni, 12, who dreams of a better life for herself and her family. She lives in a small apartment with five family members, located in a poor neighborhood in Malaga Spain where their source for food is the soup kitchen. Encarni and her family were not always in poverty. In 2008 her stepfather got laid off from his construction job and her mother found a job taking care of an elderly person, only to be fired later on. Conversely, Encarni started living with her aunt with she was eleven year old and currently living in horrible conditions with lack of nourishments.
